Dates:  Four day course:  Thursday, July 23rd, 9:00am–Sunday July 26th, 3:00pm; includes both one day courses (dates below)

Costs:  ALL ARE WELCOME REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY and there is a Requested Donation:
Program Fee: Sliding scale from $35 to $85 per day or $100 to $300 for all four days.
Lodging: $25 - $65 per day - camping and various indoor accommodations available
Food: Combining food and/or money contributions from all, along with wild harvesting, we will co-create deliciousness!

Location:
Located at 7500 feet elevation on 500 acres of gorgeous mixed conifer forest next to the Rio la Casa River, with an
abundant diversity of plant and animal life.  Hosted by Hummingbird Community near Mora in Northern New Mexico, an eco-
village intentional community who live by the principles and practices of Co-Creation: www.hummingbirdcommunity.org

Course Description:
Join us for one day or four days of exploring and learning about different applications of Permaculture:
One day children’s course July 23:  See how simple it is for children to learn sustainable living skills and how children
then naturally inspire and lead real change at home; parents welcome.
One day adult’s course July 25: Join with members of the Mora community on a tour of Hummingbird Community in a
demonstration of different aspects of Sustainable Agriculture and Sustainable Living and an exploration of how the practice
of Permaculture can enhance the efforts toward local self reliance and sustainability; enjoy working on a project together;

Four day course also includes:
Permaculture ethics & principles, flows & patterns, mapping & documentation, Cropping & Animal Systems
Grey-water and rainwater harvesting; acequia systems
Indoor and outdoor gardening with sheet mulching, terracing, and seed balls.
Prepare healthy meals with sustainable protein and wild-harvested foods.

Teachers:
Rico Zook is a certified Permaculture Teacher who has dedicated his life to assisting individuals, organizations, and
communities to create sustainable life systems so that we may all have a viable and vibrant future.  For more than a decade as
Land Manager for the Lama Foundation, Rico designed and transformed the rugged, semi-arid high-altitude site that had been
decimated by wildfire into one of beauty and productivity.  In recent years, Rico has concentrated more than half of each year
on building bridges, exchanges and relationships with NGOs and communities in India using Permaculture as common language

Patty Parks-Wasserman, founder and director of the Institute of Permaculture Education for Children and Camp Flourishability,
has one of the most fun jobs on the planet - playing with children in nature.  She has done this with toddlers through
adolescents in private and public schools, in homeschool groups and summer camps.  She has recently published Proposal for a
Paradigm Shift in Education-Sustainable Living Skills Programs for Schools: Education with Solutions for the Real World Now.

aManda Greene, founding member of OPA, Organization of Permaculture and Arts, based in Salvador Bahia Brazil. She is a
graduate of New College of California’s Culture Ecology and Sustainable Community program. She coordinated urbanGREEN-
an urban permaculture regeneration project at the New Dharma Meditation Center for urbanPEACE and was co-director of
“Our Garden” a gardening and urban ecology program at Hoover Elementary in Oakland California.
